Knee Pain Treatment in Cincinnati

Whether you're a runner dealing with IT band syndrome or a lifter struggling through squats, knee pain doesn't have to sideline you. We find the root cause — and fix it.

Why Does My Knee Hurt?

Knee pain is one of the most common complaints we see at Optimal Health & Performance — and one of the most mismanaged. Most people are told to rest, ice, and take ibuprofen. The pain fades, they go back to training, and it comes right back.

That's because the knee is rarely the problem. It's usually the victim.

Tight hips, weak glutes, poor ankle mobility, or faulty movement patterns put excessive stress on the knee joint over time. Until those underlying issues are addressed, the pain keeps returning.

Learn more about why IT band pain keeps coming back and what actually fixes it!

Common Knee Conditions We Treat

  • IT Band Syndrome (ITBS)

  • Runner's Knee (Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome)

  • Patellar Tendinopathy

  • Pes Anserine Bursitis

  • Post-surgical rehab (ACL, meniscus)

  • General knee stiffness and mobility restrictions

You Don't Have to Stop Training

Our goal is never to pull you out of the gym or off the road longer than necessary. We work with your training schedule, modify what needs to be modified, and keep you moving throughout the process whenever possible.

Whether you're 6 weeks out from a race or trying to hit a squat PR pain-free, we'll build a plan around your goals — not just your MRI.

How We Treat It

Your first visit starts with a full movement assessment — not just a look at your knee in isolation. Dr. Brian Trautman evaluates how your entire kinetic chain moves, identifies what's actually driving your pain, and builds a plan from there.

Treatment typically combines:

  • Chiropractic care to restore joint mobility in the knee, hip, and lumbar spine

  • Active Release Technique (ART) to break down scar tissue and adhesions in the surrounding soft tissue

  • Dry needling to reduce muscular tension in the quads, IT band, and hip complex

  • Rehab & loading strategies so you can return to running, lifting, and training — and stay there

We don't just treat the symptom. We fix the movement pattern that caused it.
